Wildcats Fall 63–62 in Back-and-Forth Road Battle

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Chico State came up just short Saturday afternoon, falling 63–62 to Cal State San Bernardino in CCAA action.

Chico State (18–8, 14–6 CCAA) led 33–32 at halftime and traded momentum throughout the second half, but CSUSB (12–13, 9–10 CCAA) ended the game on a 8-0 to edge the Wildcats by one.

Game summary
– Chico State came out firing, jumping to a 10–2 lead to open the game and forcing an early Coyote timeout before carrying a 17–12 advantage into the end of the first quarter.
– The Wildcats maintained a slim edge into the break, taking a 33–32 lead at halftime.
– The teams went back-and-forth in the third, with CSUSB taking a 49–46 advantage into the fourth.
– Chico State answered down the stretch and pulled even late, but the Coyotes converted at the line in the final minute to secure the 63–62 decision.

– Chico State shot 43.4% from the field (23-for-53) and 27.8% from three (5-for-18), going 11-for-17 at the line (64.7%).

The Wildcats return home to Acker Gym for the final two games of the season, hosting Cal State San Marcos on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Chico State earned a 79–66 win over the Cougars in their first meeting back in December.
