CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with unbeaten Cal State East Bay after halftime, falling 76–50 in CCAA play on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Art Acker Gym. The Wildcats drop to 8–15 overall (6–12 CCAA), while the Pioneers improve to 24–0 (18–0 CCAA).
How it happened
Chico State came out ready to compete, trading punches through a tight first half and keeping East Bay from pulling away. The Wildcats stayed within striking distance despite early turnover pressure, heading to the break down just 32–30.
The game flipped after halftime. East Bay ramped up its defense and turned live-ball turnovers into points, outscoring Chico State 44–20 in the second half. The Pioneers hit timely threes and finished in transition, building separation as the Wildcats struggled to generate consistent offense against the pressure.
Chico State got interior buckets to keep fighting, but East Bay's steady scoring — and a decisive edge in points off turnovers and fast-break production — closed the door down the stretch.
