CHICO, Calif. – Chico State completed a doubleheader sweep of Western Oregon on Friday at Nettleton Stadium, rallying for a 10–6 win in the opener before rolling to a 10–1 victory in the seven-inning nightcap.
The Wildcats improved to 4–5 on the season, while Western Oregon dropped to 2–4.
Wildcat Standouts
Jared Cantu – Combined 3-for-8 with four RBIs in game two, including a two-run single in the first and a two-run double in the fourth.
Jackson Snitko – Finished the day 4-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored across the two games.
Jack Tews – Earned the win in game two, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing one earned run.
Game 1 – Chico State 10, Western Oregon 6
Western Oregon struck first with two runs in the opening inning and added another in the second, but Chico State responded with steady offensive pressure.
The Wildcats broke through with three runs in the fifth, scoring twice on a wild pitch and adding an RBI single from Stefan Foley. Chico State followed with two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to take command.
Myles Cooper delivered a two-run single in the seventh, while Ryan Melton added a key RBI double earlier in the contest. Western Oregon plated three runs in the ninth, but the Wildcats held on to secure the win.
Jakob Poole earned the victory in relief after 1.1 scoreless innings.
Game 2 – Chico State 10, Western Oregon 1
Chico State wasted little time in the nightcap, scoring twice in the first inning on a two-run single from Cantu.
The Wildcats broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning. Jaylen Hodges doubled home a run, Snitko followed with an RBI single, and Cantu capped the rally with a two-run double down the right-field line.
Chico State added three more runs in the fifth, capitalizing on a pair of Western Oregon errors and timely hits to extend the lead to 10–1.
The pitching staff took care of the rest. Tews allowed one run over four innings, while Nathan Hikes and Bruno Condit combined for three scoreless frames to close out the sweep.
