DUPONT, WASH. – The Chico State men's golf team wrapped up play Saturday at the 2025 Grisham Memorial Shootout, finishing 7th in the 15-team field with a three-round score of 868 (+4) at The Home Course. The Wildcats showed consistency and grit over the final 36 holes, climbing the leaderboard with a strong closing round of 285 (-3).
Local teams, Western Washington and SImon Fraser, tied for the top spot at 844 (-20) out of the fifteen teams that took part at The Home Course. CSUSM was the sole CCAA competitor that traveled to DuPont, finishing a spot above the Wildcats in sixth with a single stroke advantage.
Senior Naoki Easterday led the Wildcats with a final-round 71 (-1) to finish tied for 21st at 216 (E). Sophomore Ethan Allred fired a team-best 70 (-2) highlighted by four birdies, placing tied for 26th at 217 (+2).
Junior Cooper Hambrick put together a pair of steady rounds to close the tournament, posting back-to-back 71s to finish tied for 38th at 220 (+5). Senior Ben Mouser provided a late spark, birdieing three of his final four holes to post a 73 (+1) and finish tied for 42nd at 220 (+5). Freshman Vineet Vallamsetty shot 76 (+4) in the final round to finish tied for 45th at 222 (+7).
The Wildcats will return to action October 6–7 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder Creek, Nevada, competing in the Division II National Championship Preview.
