Four Wildcats Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

| By:

CHICO, Calif. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Academic All-District baseball teams Tuesday, and four Chico State student-athletes earned the honor: Thade Miller, Joseph Loubert, Aaron McCurley, and Marco Ibarra.

The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes for outstanding performance in both the classroom and competition. Nominees must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and meet sport-specific participation requirements. For baseball, that includes appearing in 90 percent of games or starting at least 66 percent. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or logged 35 innings.

Miller, a senior from Oxnard and Exercise Physiology graduate, was also selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America honors. He started all 51 games for the Wildcats at second base and served as the team's leadoff hitter, batting .353 with 12 doubles, three triples, and 30 RBIs.

Loubert, who earned his degree in Business Administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship, appeared in 18 games out of the bullpen. He pitched 31.2 innings, collecting three wins, two saves, and 32 strikeouts, while posting a 5.12 ERA.

McCurley, a junior in his first season with the Wildcats, made 26 relief appearances and logged 38.1 innings. He recorded four saves, one win, and led the pitching staff in strikeout-to-walk ratio, fanning 30 batters while issuing only nine walks.

Ibarra, already a graduate in Marketing and currently pursuing his MBA, made 15 appearances—10 of them starts—and pitched 67.2 innings, the second most on the team. He finished the season with a 5–2 record, one save, and 35 strikeouts against just 14 walks.

The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced later this month.
