Easterday Takes Fifth in Strong Final Round Push at Pioneer Shootout

| By:
ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Wildcats put together a strong effort in the final round at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, taking sixth as a collective while Naoki Easterday takes home a top-five finish.

The junior from Portland strung together the best round of the day, carding a 65 (-7) with seven birdies and an errorless round in the final eighteen holes. With five birdies in the first seven holes of his round, Easterday felt great with the putter in his hands to earn his third top-five finish. He ended the tournament with a stunning 211 (-5) after his final round, jumping from 39th after the second round into his All-Tournament Team finish at a tie for fifth. He came away with the trophy after winning the tiebreaker, boasting the lowest round of all those in the four-way tie.

Travis Miller was able to claim a 14th-place finish in Alameda after carding a 214 (-2) in his fourth time at the Pioneer Shootout. This is Miller's sixth result this season in the top twenty, refusing to fall out of the top percentage of the field in the six outings the 'Cats have competed in.

Cooper Hambrick carded a 77 (+5) in the final round to round out his total in Alameda to 222 (+6).

Sophomore Alex LemMon carded in a 223 (+7) across three rounds, and teammate Gieseppe Aliotti penciled in a positive round of 71 (-1) to bring his fifty-four-hole total to 230 (+8).

Playing as an independent, Ethan Allred concluded the week with a 232 (+10), with four birdies in his final round.

The Wildcats will be back on the course in two weeks as they head down for the SSU Invite at the Sonoma GC, looking to earn their first tournament team win and nab some much-needed regional standing heading into the latter half of the season.
