Wildcats Showcase Their Talent at NorCal Preview

OROVILLE, Calif. - The Chico State women's track and field team fully opened their season at the NorCal Preview hosted by Butte College. It was a full day of new and returning Wildcats to get a feel for the season.  
 
Freshman Breah Bell was ecstatic as she won her first collegiate 100m race with a quick pace of 12.67. Teammate Morgan Greene finished just behind in second with a time of 12.78, both winning their respective heats. 
 
In her first race with the Wildcats, Madi Monroe took home the win in the 200m, clocking a time of 25.94. Also, in her first race with the program, Tianna Thompson finished in a top three position, finishing with a time of 26.57. 
 
Danielle Bacon took the top spot in the 400m, clocking a time of 58.22.  
 
Opening her career at Chico State, Mia Beltran finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.01.  
 
Chico State's 4x100m relay teams were battling it out at the front, with the 'A' squad consisting of Kaitlyn Gonzales, Madison Kalberer, Thompson, and Monroe gaining the edge with a time of 48.96. The 'B' squad of Sativa Younge, Teresa Vasconcellos, Bella Morales, and Greene were with them until the end, clocking a time of 49.12.  
 
In the extended 4x400m relay, the Chico State squad of Danielle Bacon, Gonzales, Thompson, and Monroe took home the top finish with a collective time of 4:00.27.  
 
Two Wildcats finished at the top of the high jump, with freshman Allie Goetz leaping a meet-leading 1.65m mark as Kendra Pearson settled for second with a 1.60m mark. 
 
A trio of 'Cats dominated the pole vault as Janey Rubio finished first after a vault of 3.35m; Miranda Seitz and Kali Dickenson rounded out the top three. 
 
A Wildcat finished top three in the long jump as Annie Belter leaped for a 4.85m mark, finishing second in her heat. 
 
Breeanna Brown won her heat in the shot put during her first appearance with the 'Cats, throwing for a 10.79m mark; she would conclude the event in sixth overall. Angelina Escobar got a silver medal in the discus with a throw of 39.14m as she participated in her first meet with the program. She would collect another second-place finish in the hammer throw with an impressive hurl of 43.47m.
