VISTA, Calif. - Starting in eighth to start the closing round, the Wildcats had some work to do if they wanted to close the gap to the top of the pack. A small storm system made conditions harder on the field than the opening rounds on Monday, with the wind causing problems.
Despite the poor conditions, the Wildcats did a commendable job at minimizing the dangers and closing the gap to the top five. Just finishing on the outside of the top five with a team total of 891 (+27). The 'Cats were one of four teams to shoot under 300 as a team in the final eighteen holes.
Opening up his spring season with a positive stretch of rounds, Naoki Easterday finished fifth in the individual leaderboard with an impressive -1 (215). Carding four birdies in the final round helped the junior finish the day with an even par 72.
Travis Miller claimed a top twenty finish with carded finish of 222 (+6), the senior nabbed an eagle on the 14th hole alongside two birdies to highlight his round.
Cooper Hambrick was efficient in his final round, finishing the opening tournament with a 223 (+7) and his best finish of the season in 23rd.
Rounding out the 'Cats was Ben Mouser who carded a 231 (+15) and Giuliano Kaminski who finished the Fujikura Invitational with a 242 (+26).
The next time the Wildcats hit the course is at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay next month from March 10th to March 11th.
