CHICO, Calif. – Despite a fast start and several strong individual performances, the Chico State men's basketball team fell 76–60 to Simpson University on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 26, 2025, at Acker Gym. The Wildcats dropped to 1–2 on the season, hosting Saint Martin's this Saturday at home before CCAA play begins in December.
How it happened
Chico State came out energetic, forcing six first-half steals and scoring 13 fast-break points to keep pace with a red-hot Simpson offense. The Wildcats trailed just 41–32 at halftime after shooting 4-of-14 from deep.
In the second half, Simpson continued its efficient perimeter attack—finishing 12-for-23 from 3-point range—and used a 15–4 run early in the period to pull away. Chico State generated 20 fast-break points and 14 points off turnovers but couldn't overcome Simpson's 52 percent shooting on the night.
