BERKELEY – The Chico State women's track and field team was back in action Saturday with plenty of Wildcats making the trip to Berkeley for the Brutus Hamilton Invitational hosted by Cal. As the conference championships creep up on the 'Cats, they continue to make strides to prepare themselves to compete against conference competition.

In her first event of the day, Sativa Younge earned a personal best in the 100m, clocking a 12.91. Teresa Vasconcellos and Morgan Greene finished just behind Younge, crossing the finish line at 13.04 and 13.06, respectively.

Jessica James finished 31st in the 200m with a time of 25.82, and teammate Danielle Bacon on her heels in 32nd with a time of 25.91.

Senior Alexis Hinojosa marked a new personal best in the 200m event with a time of 26.43. Vasconcellos rounded out the Wildcats in the 200m with a time of 27.39.

Bacon followed up her strong 200m race with a 14th-place finish in the 400m with a time of 58.27. Kaitlyn Gonzales crossed the line in 16th with a new personal best time of 59.06.

In one of her strongest events, Hinojosa earned a new personal best time of 14.28 with an impressive 8th place finish in the 100m hurdles, racing in the top section of the event– Hinojosa was the only Wildcat to end the event with multiple new bests.

Young, James, Gonzales, and Hinojosa took part in the 4x100 relay, clocking a time of 48.76, closing in on fellow CCAA squads, showing a glimpse into what the conference championships will offer in May.

Kendra Pearson is coming off her provisional mark jump at the Hornet Invitational, clearing the 1.61m bar in the high jump for a seventh-place finish at Cal. Carly Harriman earned a new personal best in the high jump with a 1.51m leap alongside teammate Mary Casserly.

Freshman Janey Rubio collected a personal best in the pole vault, clearing 3.45m and falling into an 11th-place finish at Cal. Rebecca Graham finished with a mark of 3.30m, and Samantha Brackett a mark of 3.10m.

In the long jump, Annie Belter leaped for a 4.56m mark, coming off her sixth-place finish at the Stan State Multi on Thursday and Friday.

Natalie Muse took ninth in the triple jump, bouncing for a mark of 10.69m.

Ava Cavallaro took part in the shot put and hammer events, tallying an 11.76m mark in the shot put and tossing the hammer for 46.30m. The senior thrower finished in the top 15 for both events, peaking at 8th in the shot put.

Sage Coyle marked a 39.67m throw of the hammer alongside Cavallaro.

Earning a new personal best in the hammer throw, Josie Peterson threw for an impressive 43.13m mark. Following up the PR with a 42.67m javelin throw, clearing the provisional mark benchmark again, falling just short of improving her outstanding 44.29m from earlier in the season.

Peterson sits at 13th nationally in the event, holding the best mark in the CCAA and the second in the west region as the season winds down.
