TURLOCK – Four members of the Chico State women's track & field team had to compete through poor weather elements at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium as the Wildcats participated in the Stan State Multi Thursday and Friday.
 
The Wildcats sent Annie Belter, Carly Harriman, Natalie Muse and Talyn Steffens to the Stanislaus State campus for the second heptathlon on the season. The Wildcats, along with seven other competitors from fellow CCAA members Cal State San Bernardino, San Francisco State, Jessup and NCAA Division I Fresno State, had to compete through rain, cold and wind throughout the meet.
 
Muse led the effort as far as scoring goes, recording 3,695 points to place third. She ran a personal best 16.19 in the 100-meter hurdles for a second-place finish and it also moved her into the CCAA's Top 25 in the event. In addition, she finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in both the long jump and 800-meter.
 
Also in the points, Belter finished sixth, Harriman seventh and Steffens was 11^th.
 
Harriman finished in a tie for second in the high jump for her best event result. Belter's highest event finish was fourth in both the high jump and javelin throw. Steffens' top finish was in the high jump, which she placed seventh.
 
The four will join the rest of their teammates in Berkeley for the University of California's Brutus Hamilton Invitational Saturday.
