Wildcats Reach Century Mark for First Time in 18 Years

CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State women's basketball team achieved something the program has not seen in quite some time: 100 points.

Kaila Woo got a layup in the final seconds to complete the Wildcats' reach to the century mark in their 100-49 win over Cal State East Bay in Acker Gym Thursday evening.

It had been quite a long time since the Chico State women's basketball program had scored 100 points, dating back to December 21, 2006, against Western Oregon, when the Wildcats put up the exact same result the 2024-25 team finished.

The current Wildcats, meanwhile, improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA while the injury-plagued Pioneers fall to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference place.

Meadow Aragon continued to lead the way for the Wildcats with 18 points and eight rebounds while Makenzi Laporte had 13.

The bench were big contributors to the scoring, combining for 56 points. Kaylie Edge reached a career-high with 14 points along with five boards, Jiana Creswell and Kamil Reid each had a dozen points and Woo had 11. Ashleigh Barr had a seven-point, five-rebound night to complete the reserves' performance.

East Bay, while shooting 30.5 percent (18-for-59) from the field, Krista Sheaffer led the scoring effort off the bench with 16 points.

Turnovers also hurt the Pioneers, for they committed 26 mistakes, and the Wildcats collected the same number in points.

Chico State had led the entire game, taking a 21-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats then had a 40-14 lead at halftime.

The Wildcats continue the homestand Saturday with San Francisco State. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. The Gators come to Chico losing a tight score, 59-55, to Cal Poly Humboldt tonight.

Postgame Notes
• Chico State is now 61-25 all-time against Cal State East Bay. Tonight's margin of victory is second most for Chico State. Dating back to February 15, 1975, was when the Wildcats beat the Pioneers 91-39, a 52-point margin.
• Head coach Brian Fogel, in his 17th season at the helm, is 255-174 in his career.
