CHICO, Calif. – Makenzi Laporte recorded career-highs 24 points and six assists as the Chico State women's basketball team dominate the front end of the second half to beat San Francisco State 84-70 in Acker Gym on Saturday.

The Wildcats, winner of four straight games, improve to 7-1 overall and remain perfect in the CCAA after three contests. San Francisco State, meanwhile, falls to 2-6 and remain winless in conference play.

Jordan Allred had 15 points and Meadow Aragon, despite the amount of coverage she received from the Gators in the game, scored 10 points.

Of the 24 points she scored, Laporte went 9-for-15 from the field and 5-for-5 on the free throw line.

The Wildcats finished shooting 51.6 percent (33-for-64) from the field and 5-of-12 from 3-point range.

San Francisco State relied heavily on its starting five to do most of the scoring. Sage Bridges-Bey led the effort with 14 points, Geriah Bradley had 13 and Byana Asiasi and Ana Daniels both had a dozen.

Chico State also dominated the rebounding column 44-25, with 16 points scored on second chances.

After leading 42-34 at halftime, Chico State would dominate the third quarter by outscoring SF State 21-1 in nearly eight minutes to take a 28-point lead, the largest gap in the game.

SF State, though, rallied in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit down to nine (69-60) with 6:17 left in the game. Laporte and Ciarah Michalik would combine for 13 of the 15 points Chico State scored in the remainder of the game.

Chico State remains home this week as it hosts Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday at 1 p.m. It will be the second meeting in three weeks. The Lumberjacks come to Chico having edged Cal State East Bay 63-61 in Arcata later in the day.

• Dating back to their first meeting in 1971, Chico State leads the all-time series over SF State 85-24. The Wildcats have won nine straight meetings and 16 of the last 17.
• Head coach Brian Fogel, in his 17
th season at the helm, is 256-174 in his career.
• Makenzi Laporte's previous career high in points was 22 at Cal Poly Pomona last season.
• The Wildcats 7-1 start to the season is the best since the 2018-19 season. However, that team would go on to finish 12-13 at the end of the season.
