ARCATA, Calif. – Meadow Aragon scored a career-high 26 points, Jordan Allred had 22 as the Chico State women's basketball team opened CCAA play with a 77-56 win over Cal Poly Humboldt at Lumberjack Arena Saturday evening.
The Wildcats also improve to 5-1 overall while dipping the Lumberjacks' record to 1-5.
In addition to the 26 points, Aragon completed a double-double by collecting 10 rebounds.
Ciarah Machalik also had a good day on the court, dropping a season-high 10 points.
Chico State had a good day taking care of the basketball, only committing a season-low nine turnovers, limiting Humboldt to 33.3 percent (22-for-66) from the field and outrebounding the Lumberjacks 41-33.
Offensively, the Wildcats hit 42.6 percent (29-for-68) around the perimeter and produced 19 second-chance points.
Aragon made six of the Wildcats' dozen free throws.
While Humboldt got on the board first, the Wildcats went on a 16-5 run with 3:22 left in the opening quarter to take control of the game. Allred had seven of her points scored during that momentum.
Chico State would dominate the second quarter, 22-13, to take a 40-23 lead into intermission.
Like the start of the game, the Lumberjacks scored first to start the second half and cut the gap to 14 points. The Wildcats would move further ahead and lead by as many as 24 points.
With five games remaining until the New Year, all of them will be played in Acker Gym. The homestand begins Thursday with Cal State East Bay at 5:30 p.m. The Pioneers are coming off a 75-71 overtime win at San Francisco State earlier in the day.

• Chico State now leads the all-time series with Cal Poly Humboldt, 77-30, dating back to 1970. The Wildcats have now won five straight games against the Lumberjacks.
• Head coach Brian Fogel, in his 17
th season at the helm, is 254-174 in his career.
• Meadow Aragon's previous career-high was 17 when she was with Western Oregon. She reached that mark on two occasions during the 2021-22 season. The first was against Corban and the other was at Simon Fraser.
• By achieving a double-double, Aragon has recorded her first since February 19, 2022, when she was with Western Oregon against Northwest Nazarene.
• Jordan Allred has now scored 20-plus points in a game in two of the last three games. She scored 25 against Jessup (Nov. 16).
