CHICO, Calif. - Following another CCAA Championship appearance in the 2024 fall season, the Chico State men's soccer program finds three student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District list. 

Carson Zarate, Ben Ralph, and Sylas Sells claim the end-of-season academic honor after excelling on the field and in the classroom. These three extraordinary student-athletes maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater while participating in 90% of competitions.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

To be nominated for Academic All-District, the student-athlete must:
• be a sophomore academically and athletically;
• be enrolled at his or her institution at the time of nomination either as an undergraduate or graduate. Only the school at which an athlete competed in the current academic year can nominate that player;
• have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale);
• compete in 90 percent of the institution's contests or must start in at least 66 percent of the contests.

Zarate, an agricultural business student, is the sole repeat award winner after being named to the 2023 CSC Academic All-District list in his junior season. The center back also received CCAA All-Conference Honorable Mention honors after a strong season with the Wildcats backline.

Ralph, a graduate student pursuing a secondary degree in exercise physiology, excelled in his undergraduate and graduate programs while being a solid force in the 'Cats midfield. 

Sells, a sophomore, scored a trio of big goals throughout the season as the youngest goal scorer on the squad this season.
