After a nationwide search, Chico State has selected Eric Coleman as the University's new executive director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
A highly accomplished and nationally respected athletics administrator, Coleman comes to Chico State from University of California, San Diego, where he currently serves as the executive senior associate athletic director for Scholar-Athlete Success. "I am thrilled and honored to join the Wildcat Family and am inspired by Chico State's steadfast commitment to excellence and providing an affordable, high-quality education for all students," said Coleman. "Together with our dedicated student-athletes, coaches, and staff, I am excited to build on the strong foundation at Chico State, enhancing our athletes' experience and supporting our commitment to excellence in competition, in the classroom and in the community. I can't wait to get started working with the staff and student-athletes and creating positive connections within the community of Chico through the transformative power of sports."

While at Texas A&M-Commerce (2021–23), Coleman guided the Intercollegiate Athletics Strategic Plan and led the Student-Athlete Performance Team, emphasizing well-being, academics, and strength training. He also managed the department's 14 sports programs, overseeing student-athlete affairs and the athletic budget.
"We are excited for Eric to lead us into the next era of Chico State Athletics," said Chico State President Steve Perez. "His extraordinary record of helping student-athletes thrive and his energizing vision for the department's future are a great fit that will serve our student-athletes, campus and community well."
