CHICO, Calif. - Sometimes you simply need one, and the Wildcats prove that the best defense is the best offense after maintaining the 1-0 victory at home against Seattle Pacific. They improved to 3-1 after Klayre Barres headed home an early goal from a tremendous service provided by Jordan Brail.
It was a hard-fought match between the Wildcats and the Falcons, with both teams seeing their fair share of chances throughout the first half.Â
However, SPU began to apply pressure on the home side's back line, totaling 21 shots.
Emma Hofmann, the Junior goalkeeper from Folsom, came in clutch for the Wildcats. She made six saves against the visiting Falcons, not shying away when the ball entered her box. Her backline minimized any danger for Hofmann, forcing many shots to sail wide or above the frame.
Hofmann hasn't conceded a goal in the last two matches, earning her second shutout in front of the home crowd.
Summer Baron and Makenzie Gutowski led the Wildcats in shots with two each throughout the match.
The Wildcats will be on the road again next week, traveling south to Southern California to take on a pair of non-conference opponents in the PacWest. They start the week with a match against Azusa Pacific, followed by a faceoff with Biola in La Mirada.
