AZUSA – While the name of it is the Bryan Clay Invitational, it sure looks to be more of a carnival at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Athletic Complex as the Chico State men's track & field team went up against large fields in their respective events Thursday and Friday.
A popular meet that features NCAA Division I and II student-athletes, the Wildcats saw well more than 100 entries in certain events.
Cameron Duquette was the lone Wildcat to crack a top 10 finish in his event, running a personal-best time of 29:47.79 in the 10,000-meter open. He went up against 72 other runners.
Jack Emanuel was invited to run a certain 10,000-meter run Thursday evening. He clocked in 29:54.00 to finish 13
th out of 21 entries. Joshua O'Neill ran in one of three 5,000-meter open heat races, crossed the finish line at 14:34.11, just milliseconds short from his personal best. He did place 11
th.
The largest field among those that featured Chico State on Thursday was the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which had 132 entries. Anders Biel and Daniel Hernandez finish in the middle of the pack but turned in personal bests at the event. Friday's largest field was the 800-meter invite. Walker Doucette ran a 1:53.96 in the event.
