CHICO – Zhane Duckett and Jordan Allred were wearing different uniforms when they set their personal marks in points scored throughout their respective collegiate careers. But when the final buzzer sounded in Chico State's 89-68 home-opening win over Academy of Art Saturday afternoon, the duo has achieved career-highs in a Wildcat uniform.

Duckett scored 25 points with 14 of them coming from the free throw line and Allred dropped in 22 points. In a strange and unusual way, Duckett's last career-high was 21 points at Acker Gym. However, it was when she was at Cal State East Bay taking on the team she plays for now, Chico State, back when she was a sophomore in the 2021-22 season. For the junior Allred, her last career-high mark was 18 when she was a freshman at Idaho going up against Lewis-Clark State in 2021-22.

Ashleigh Barr was another contributor to the win as she scored a season-high 14 points along with eight rebounds. Brandy Huffhines had 10 points while handing out six assists.

Duckett also had a six-assist, five-rebound day.

The Wildcats (3-2) finished the day shooting 46.3 percent from the field while making 6-of-18 from 3-point range.

Free throws were perhaps the key factor in the game as the Wildcats made 21 of 25 from the charity stripe.

For a rebuilding Academy of Art team that featured three freshmen that combined for 32 points. Lucia Revenga and Maddie Morrow each had a dozen points and Anna Fornells had eight.

Both sides jumped right out of the gate, with Chico State leading 20-16 halfway through the first quarter. Allred had 12 points, Duckett had 10 to lead the Wildcats to a 34-21 lead at the end of the period. Academy of Art started off strong hitting the first three 3-point baskets but went cold after that, finishing the day 8-for-24 from the great distance.

Chico State took a 54-36 lead into halftime. Duckett had 19 points and Allred was at 17 in the first half.

The Wildcats will begin CCAA play hosting Cal State San Bernardino Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Yotes, at 2-2, are coming off back-to-back losses to Alaska and Multnomah in Fairbanks over the weekend.
