CHICO – The Chico State volleyball team stood toe-to-toe with No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino in their only meeting of the season Friday.
Though the Yotes swept the 'Cats in three sets (19-25, 21-25, 11-25), Chico State made a great effort the first two sets in rallying and making Cal State San Bernardino have to lock up the set wins.
Kassandra Nall logged in 11 of the Wildcats' 26 kills, Brooke Ono had 22 assists and Zoe DiNardo made 14 digs to lead Chico State (4-11, 1-10 CCAA) in those respective categories.
The Yotes (16-3, 9-2 CCAA), who have won six straight matches to keep pace with first-place Cal State LA, hit .347 on the attack with Trinity Sheridan tallying 21 kills.
One notable highlight was in the second set. Thought the Yotes were up by 10 and the Wildcats capitalized on their opponent's attack errors and went on a 9-2 run to get to 24-21. The Yotes eventually got the set-winning point to move to a 2-0 match lead.
Chico State welcomes SF State to Acker Gym Saturday at 5 p.m. The Gators are coming off a 3-set win over Stanislaus State in Turlock tonight.
