For the Chico State men's golf team, the next three days at Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colorado, will decide whether the Wildcats head to Dearborn, Michigan, for the NCAA Championship Finals, or back home to Chico. The Wildcats' goal is to survive and advance, and they'll need to play some of their best golf of the season to do so.
 
Chico State is one of 20 teams—10 from the West Region and 10 from the South Central Region—and eight individuals to have advanced to the NCAA Division II Championship West/South Central Super Regional, which begins Thursday. The tournament is a 54-hole, three-round competition with 18 holes played each day.
 
The top four teams and top two individuals who are not part of an advancing team will move on to the NCAA II Men's Golf Championships May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, Michigan. Fans can follow the scoring via the live leaderboard.
 
Chico State's five-man lineup (the top four scores for each team in each round count, while the high score each round is thrown out) consists of Dakota Ochoa, Michael Stephens, Chris Colla, Tyler Ashman, and Travis Miller. The Wildcats tee off beginning at 10:50 a.m., Pacific, and are paired with Cameron and Texas A&M Commerce.
 
Chico State has advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals 18 times, including eight times in its last 17 opportunities. 
 
The Wildcats won the 2004 and 2016 NCAA Regional Championship. They've finished among the top five 13 times. In their last regional, in 2019, they finished sixth. No Wildcat has ever won medalist honors at the regional, but three have finished second: J.J. Jakovac (2004), Kyle Souza (2012), and Kelley Sullivan (2017).
