Kylie Martinez, Jourdan Doukakis and Sarah Emigh were honored prior to Friday evening's Chico State women's soccer match at University Soccer Stadium. It took a little extra time. After all, there were lots of great things to say about the trio. It turns out, those extended pre-match festivities were a sign of things to come. The Wildcats and San Francisco State played full time and then two 10-minute extra time periods before settling for a 0-0 draw.
Â
The Wildcats have now shut out four consecutive opponents. Goalkeeper Emma Hofmann needed to make only one save in the effort Friday as Chico State out-shot the Gators 12-4. The Wildcats had four shots on goal, one of which was saved off the line. That was a blast by Summer Baron midway through the first half. Camille Lidster had two dangerous tries saved in the second half. And Madison Parsons had a promising blast saved in the first overtime period.
Â
Chico State is now unbeaten (3-0-3) in its last six home matches and 7-2-4 overall. San Francisco State is 6-6-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the CCAA. Chico State's senior class is 19-4-11 at University Soccer Stadium.
Â
The Wildcats will be back in action Sunday night at 4:30 at Pleasant Valley High School (1475 East Avenue) in Chico for a huge match against first-place Sonoma State. The Seawolves are 11-2-0 overall, 6-1-0 in the CCAA, and ranked No. 23 in the nation.
