Cracker and clean sheet on the coast

Wildcats remain unbeaten behind Bozart's goal and fourth shutout in seven matches

SEASIDE—Korie Bozart's 28th-minute banger gave the Chico State women's soccer team the lead. Bozart and her fellow defenders proceeded to make that lead stood in a 1-0 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay Friday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.

This marks the first time in the history of the program the Wildcats (3-0-4 overall and 2-0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association) have gone unbeaten through their first seven matches.

Nadiah Martinez's corner kick was headed out of the box by an Otters defender, but Bozart pounced on in and ripped a shot into the right upper-V from just ouside of the 18-yard box for her first goal of the season and the sixth of her career.

Defenders Bozart, Abbie Jones, and Jamie Ikeda played all 90 minutes, along with midfielder Sarah Emigh and goalkeeper Brenna Meier, helping to limit Cal State Monterey Bay to five shots on goal and produce the Wildcats fourth shutout of the season.
