Make it eight!

Women’s soccer wins third straight, remains unbeaten

HAYWARD—Apparently tired of simply not losing, the Chico State women's soccer team is putting another kind of streak together. The Wildcats won their third straight Sunday, beating Cal State East Bay 2-1 in Hayward, to stretch their season-opening unbeaten streak to eight.

Aiden Williams' first collegiate goal gave the Wildcats the lead in the first half and Jordan Doukakis doubled it in the second as the Wildcats moved into a tie at the top of the California Collegiate Athletic Association's table one third of the way through the conference slate.

Chico State is now 4-0-4 overall and 3-0-1 in the CCAA.

Cal State East Bay slipped to 5-3-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the CCAA.

Jordan Doukakis scored her first goal of the season and the second of
her career.
Williams' first collegiate goal will be hard for the sophomore to top in terms of power and precision. The sophomore from Seattle positioned herself near the PK spot for Erin Woods' cross moments earlier. That cross was cleared out to where Kyle Martinez was lurking 10 yards beyond the top-right corner of the 18-yard box. The sophomore one-timed a serve aimed at the PK spot where Williams was once again. She leapt high into the air and headed it with power inside the right post, giving Chico State a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute.

Chico State doubled its lead in the 56th minute.

Unmarked at midfield, Woods received a pass from Jamie Ikeda. She turned with it and dribbled twice before slipping a pass through two Pioneers defenders toward the top-right corner of the 18-yard box. Garcia timed her run perfectly, just staying onside, and ran the ball down just inside the box. Garcia dribbled twice toward the near post, and as soon as the goalkeeper committed to challenging, flicked a pass to her left where Juliana Los and Doukakis were making runs. Los, heading straight toward the mouth of the goal, was a millisecond late to tap it in with her left foot, but Doukakis had her back, punching it home near the far post for her first goal of the season.

Cal State East Bay got one back in the 60th minute. Chace Miguel back-heeled a corner kick from close range the Wildcats goalkeeper Vic Graham covered with solid positioning, but she was unable to smother it and it bounced right back to Miguel, who took advantage of the second chance.

Graham made a career-high nine saves in her third collegiate start, while improving to 2-0-1 in goal.

Chico State will head back on the road next weekend for matches at Cal State San Bernardino Friday and Cal Poly Pomona Sunday. After that, they'll wrap up the regular season with four of their last six at home.
