The Chico State men's golf team had some fun in the sun in their opening even of the spring semester–The Amer Ari Invitational in Hawai'i–in which they faced many of the top Division I programs in the nation. Beginning Monday, the Wildcats are ready to get serious in Stockton against many of the Division II counterparts they'll be battling for a spot in the NCAA West Regional Championships.
The 2017 Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw West Regional Preview at Brookside Country Club features 23 of the top teams from the West and South Central Regions, along with Division I side the University of Pacific. It also offers the teams a glimpse of the host course for the opening round of NCAA Championships play.
Representing the 22
nd-ranked Wildcats for Head Coach Nick Green will be: Kelley Sullivan, Cole Chavez, TJ Kathrineberg, Serge Kiriluk, and Colby Dean. Henning Hogmeoen will join them, competing as an individual.
The event features two 18-hole rounds, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. The Wildcats will tee off at 8:45 a.m. Monday and be grouped with Dominican, Sonoma State, and Colorado Mesa.
Tuesday, they'll be joined by California Baptist, BYU-Hawai'i, and Sonoma State, and tee off at 9:30. California Baptist is coached by former Wildcats Coach T.L. Brown.
