SAN BERNARDINO – The Chico State baseball team was six outs away from a solid weekend series in San Bernardino. The sixth out never came. The Wildcats gave up five runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth as a 10-3 lead evaporated into an 11-10 loss Sunday.
Sonny Cortez, Cameron Santos, Ben Gamba, Dillon Kelley and Josh Falco had two hits apiece as the Wildcats built a big lead. Gamba hit a two-run homer and Santos smacked a two-run triple.
Chico State fell to 14-6 overall and 4-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Cal State San Bernardino improved to 12-14 overall and 7-7 in the CCAA.
