Wildcats sweep through match with Simpson University

REDDING, Calif. – The Chico State volleyball team continued its winning ways Tuesday night, posting a three-set, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 victory over Simpson University at Heritage Life Center in Redding.

The Wildcats’ offensive attack was evenly balanced against the Red Hawks – Makenzie Snyder registered 10 kills on the night, with Gillian Heydorff and Kayla Baumgardner adding seven kills apiece. Sable Villaescusa racked up 14 assists, while Jessica Simms delivered four service aces. As a team, Chico State chalked up a solid .224 attack percentage on the evening.

With Tuesday’s win, the Wildcats improve to 4-1 on the season. Simpson University fell to 0-4 on the year.

Chico State is back in action Friday, heading down to the Bay Area to take part in the two-day California Clash Tournament. Friday the Wildcats will take on host school Notre Dame de Namur at 11:30 a.m., followed by a match against Saint Martin’s University at 4:30 p.m. The ’Cats tangle with Chaminade University at 11:30 Saturday morning, then wrap up the California Clash with a match against Dominican University at 4:30 p.m.
