Margins of victory in sprint races usually aren't much more than the blink of an eye, while the difference between first place and middle of the pack can be a half of a step. That makes Michelle Holt's performance at last weekend's Wildcat Invitational all the more impressive, and why she's the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
The sophomore from Laguna Hills won three events at the Wildcat Invitational, and though Chico State finished first in 10 events, Holt was the lone Chico State athlete to post multiple victories. She placed first in both the 100- and the 200-meter dash, and was part of the Wildcat quartet that took top honors in the 4x100-meter relay.
 Â
Holt won the 100 with a personal-best time of 12.22 seconds, finishing ahead of seven competitors with second place coming in at 12.50. She was even more dominant in the 200 that included a field of 32 entries vying for the title. None of them were faster than Holt, and her time of 25.06 beat the large field by more than a half-second. The second-place finisher's time was 25.61.
Â
Holt, Sydney Proiette, Isabella Moyer and Melanie O'Brien wrapped up the day by winning the 4x100 with a time of 49.27 seconds.

Holt and the Chico State women's track & field team are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Sacramento State-hosted Hornet Invitational.
