That Whitney Branham will be a permanent fixture in the Chico State women's basketball record books had been established some time ago. But it was the final weekend of the regular season that the senior once and for all cemented her reputation as the program's all-time 3-point shooter. And while Branham was re-arranging the record books, she also helped lead the Wildcats to two victories that earned Chico State a first round home game in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament. Her tour de force finish of the regular season makes Branham the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Branham nailed seven total 3-pointers and averaged 19 points in the two games vs. San Francisco State and Sonoma State. She also dished out nine assists, hauled in seven rebounds and grabbed 12 steals.
Â
Branham scored 20 points in the Wildcats' 63-49 victory over San Francisco State, with the second of her four 3-pointers on the night moving her past Audi Spencer and into first place on Chico State's career 3-pointers list. In Saturday's 75-68 victory over Sonoma State, she came up huge in nearly every statistical category, totaling 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists and a career-high eight steals. Branham made three more 3-pointers, giving her with 202 in her Wildcats career.
Â
In addition to owning the program's 3-point record, Branham ranks fifth in Chico State history in scoring (1,439 points) and fourth in free throws (363).
Â
Branham will get a chance to add to her career totals as she and the Wildcats host Cal State LA Tuesday at Acker Gym in the opening round of the CCAAÂ Tournament.
