Wildcats goalkeeper Natalie Bensky recorded a shutout of San Francisco State Friday and then turned away a penalty kick for one of her six saves in a 2-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in Sunday's regular season finale to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
Bensky, a senior from Arcata High School, made a trio of saves Friday as the Wildcats battled San Francisco State to a 0-0 tie. The shutout was Bensky's eighth this season and the 12th of her career. Those totals are the sixth highest in Chico State single-season history and the sixth highest in Chico State career history.
Sunday, Bensky earned her eighth win of the season and the 14th of her career between the pipes thanks in large part to her save of a penatly kick late in the first half that would have been the equalizing goal.
Bensky allowed only one goal and made nine saves on the weekend. That raised her saves percentage to .840, the highest among CCAA regular starters, and lowered her goals-against-average to just 0.68. Her GAA is the fourth lowest in Chico State single-season history, and her career GAA of 0.95 is tied for second on the school's top-10 list.
