Corey Silverstrom is off to the best start of his collegiate career, averaging personal highs of 16.9 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game. He and his teammates are determined to have a special season.
 
Silverstrom is poised to reach some personal milestones along the way, and Friday night he reached a big one. Silverstrom's 3-pointer with 4:14 to go in regulation gave him 1,000 career points. He's the 18th Wildcat to reach that milestone.
 
The Bullard High School (Fresno) product averaged 18.5 points, four rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as the Wildcats split a road trip through Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino.
 
Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino Silverstrom sank the 154th and 155th 3-pointers of his career, moving him past Jay Flores into fifth on the school's all-time list. He is also closing in on two more milestones: he needs 12 more assists to become the 15th Wildcat to reach 200 career assists; he needs 16 more steals to reach 100, something that only eight Wildcats have done to this point (though fellow seniors Jalen McFerren and Isaiah Ellis are closing in on the mark as well).
 
Silverstrom ranks fifth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in scoring, third in 3-point percentage, and fourth in assists per game. 
 
After playing four of their first six games of the season, the Wildcats will spend much of December at home. They'll play four of their next five in Acker Gym, beginning with a showdown against San Francisco State Saturday at 7:30.
