Chico State senior Steven Baker completed a masterful home campaign Sunday, allowing just one run on four hits in seven innings of work in the Wildcats' 8–7 victory over Cal State East Bay.

Baker was among 16 seniors celebrated prior to the game in Senior Day ceremonies. He proceeded to retire the Pioneers in order in the first, second, fourth, sixth, and seventh, striking out four and walking just one, and earning Wildcat of the Week honors in the process.

Baker did not get a decision after the Pioneers rallied to briefly take the lead in the eighth, but he did lower his overall ERA to 2.55 in 16 appearances, including five starts. He finished his season at Nettleton Stadium with a record of 3-0 and ERA of 0.79 in nine appearances, including two starts. Over 22.2 innings of work at home, Baker allowed just 11 hits and two walks while striking out 21.

The Wildcats are now 4-1 when Baker starts this season and 10-2 in his 12 career starts

The Wildcats play their final regular-season next weekend at Cal State Monterey Bay needing to win three of four to clinch the best in-conference record in the history of the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
