Ben Manlove mashed four doubles and a triple, driving in four runs and scoring seven times, during the Chico State baseball team’s four-game sweep of Academy of Art over the Weekend. Manlove, who batted .600 and slugged 1.200, has been named Wildcat of the Week.
The junior catcher from Berkeley went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in the Wildcats’ 20-0 series opening win Friday. His second inning RBI-double plated the Wildcats’ first run and he doubled home another run in the third.
He went 1-for-3 to open Saturday’s doubleheader. He scored the game’s first run in the third and then hit a two-run double and later scored during a nine-run uprising in the fourth. Manlove also threw out a runner attempting to steal in the 11-7 win.
In his final action of the weekend, Manlove doubled, tripled and scored twice in the Wildcats’ 8-1 win. He finished 2-for-3 at the plate while catching Luke Barker’s complete-game three-hitter.
Manlove and the Wildcats, ranked No. 5 in the nation, will host CCAA foe Cal State Monterey Bay for a four-game series this weekend beginning with a single game Friday at 6 p.m.
