Talk about a full dance card! Chico State women’s track and field star Kelly Clancey competed in no less than nine events last week, participating in the Mt. SAC Relays California Inivtational in Asuza and in a pair of races at Saturday’s Woody Wilson Invitational. As has come to be expected, Clancey’s quality of work remained at a high level throughout, as she earned her second NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of the season in the Mt. SAC Relays heptathlon…then two days later in Davis set a new Chico State record in the 400-meter hurdles. Clancey’s outstanding performances made the senior from Modesto an easy pick for the latest Wildcat of the Week award.

Wednesday and Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays heptathlon, Clancey finished 18th overall, garnering 4,596 points over the seven heptathlon events – 196 over the minimum needed for a Provisional mark. The high point of Clancey’s two days in Asuza was finishing second in a field of 34 in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.21.

Saturday at the Woody Wilson Invtational, Clancey earned a Provisional mark in the 400-meter hurdles, breaking Katie Prucha’s year-old Chico State record in the event with a time of 1:02.46. Clancey finished her ultra-productive week by teaming with Michelle Burley, Melissa Rene and Aimee Rodgers to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 3:57.39.
