It was a tough week for the Chico State women’s basketball team, suffering road losses to Cal State East Bay and UC San Diego. But junior forward Pauline Ferrall was one Wildcat who was on her game, posting some impressive numbers in limited minutes, highlighted by a season-high scoring performance Saturday against the Tritons. Ferrall’s solid play has earned the Carmel native Wildcat of the Week honors.
Thursday against Cal State East Bay, Ferrall played just 10 minutes, but still managed to score six points and grab two rebounds in Chico State’s 74-69 loss to the Pioneers. Saturday versus UC San Diego, Ferrall definitely made the most of her time on the court – in 21 minutes of action, she scored a season-high 17 points (just three off her career best), hauled in a team-high seven boards, drained 7-of-8 from the free throw line and added a blocked shot as the ’Cats battled but eventually fell to the Tritons, 71-60.
Ferrall currently ranks second among Chico State players in scoring (8.1 points a game), and leads the team in field goal percentage (44.7) and blocked shots (19).
Ferrall and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend, hosting Cal Poly Pomona Friday and Cal State San Bernardino Saturday in the final homestand of the regular season. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
