Terence Pellum continued to rise into rarified air, averaging 11 points on 64-percent shooting, eight rebounds, 1.5 steals and a blocked shot a night for the men's basketball team last weekend, to earn Wildcat of the Week honors. Pellum scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting Friday night and then yanked down a career-high 12 rebounds to go along with nine points, two blocks and two steals Saturday.
Pellum's two blocked shots brought his career total to 48 - the seventh most in Chico State history. He's just one shy of Jason Van Eck for sixth and five behind Aaron Martella and Andre Speech, who are tied for fourth. His 21 blocks this season rank third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). And if he keeps up his current average of 1.5 rejections per contest, Pellum will finish the regular season with 39, the most by a Wildcat since Andre Speech's 53 in 1997-98.
Speaking of the CCAA rankings, Pellum ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage at 59 percent, a number that would put him into fifth on Chico State's single-season list.
See Pellum and the Wildcats up close this weekend at Acker Gym when they host San Francisco State Friday and Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at approximately 7:30 PM.
