The sophomore from San Diego enjoyed her most productive week yet of a very successful 2010 season, twirling a pair of complete game shutouts while allowing just seven hits and striking out nine as Chico State swept a four-game road series against Cal State East Bay. McDermott’s string of 14 straight goose eggs was more than enough to earn Wildcat of the Week recognition.
Friday, McDermott set the tone against Cal State East Bay, scattering five hits and fanning five in going the distance as the Wildcats blanked the host Pioneers 11-0 in the first game of the series-opening doubleheader. Saturday, McDermott was even more effective, allowing just two hits while striking out four in posting her sixth straight complete game and sixth shutout of the season in a 7-0 Chico State win.
