Jack Emanuel’s list of successes as a Chico State men’s distance runner is an extremely lengthy one. In cross country, he has racked up four All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) honors, the conference’s Newcomer of the Year award, four All-West Region honors, and has twice earned All-America accolades. In track & field, Emanuel is the CCAA’s defending 5,000-meter champion, has won two All-West Region awards, and even when COVID-19 cut the 2020 season short, he was a CCAA All-Star selection. The Chico native is obviously not content with resting on his laurels, as he continues to add to his impressive resume in this, his final track & field season. Emanuel’s outstanding performance in the 5k at the Stanford Invitational makes him the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Friday in Palo Alto, Emanuel toed the starting line against a predominately Division I field at the Stanford Invitational, finishing the 5,000-meter run in 10th place with an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 14:09.04—less than two-tenths of a second shy of his personal best mark in the event.
Emanuel’s effort currently ranks as the top 5,000-meter time among all CCAA distance runners and the fifth-fastest time in Division II nationwide so far this season.
Emanuel and the Chico State men’s track & field team will be in Turlock this weekend to complete in the Stanislaus State Invitational at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium.
