Over the years, Haley Ison has hit several big shots and produced many exciting moments in Acker Gym. The talented forward might have saved her best for last, though, making the final two home games of her Chico State career ones to remember. Ison recorded back-to-back double-doubles to help the Wildcats post a pair of victories and stay in contention for an NCAA Championship Tournament berth. Her all-around play against San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay makes Ison the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Ison scored a combined 23 points in the Wildcats’ wins over the Gators and the Otters, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the field, and was a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Ison also grabbed a total of 22 rebounds while adding five assists, a block, and two steals as Chico State improved to 18-8 on the season and 14-6 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
Â
Thursday against San Francisco State, Ison scored 11 points and hauled in a dozen rebounds in the Wildcats' 69-62 win over the Gators. Ison then recorded her ninth career double-double on Senior Night Saturday versus Cal State Monterey Bay, scoring 12 points and collecting 10 rebounds as Chico State defeated the Otters 56-49.
Â
For the season, Ison is averaging 8.8 points a game and ranks eighth among all CCAA players in rebounding, hauling in 6.9 boards a contest.
Â
Ison and the Wildcats, which have already locked up a spot in the upcoming CCAA Tournament, wrap up regular season play this week when they travel to Southern California to take on Cal State San Bernardino Thursday and Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
