Chris Webb enters his second season as assistant coach with the Chico State volleyball program in 2025, bringing a wide range of experience across NCAA Division I and II programs, international volleyball, and player development.
Webb joined the Wildcats in January 2024 and made an immediate impact in his first season, helping guide the program to its most conference wins (six) and highest CCAA finish (ninth) since 2021. His expertise in scouting, recruiting, and technical instruction has strengthened the team’s foundational rebuild under head coach Tommy Gott.
A familiar name within the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Webb previously served as an assistant at Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he coached nine All-CCAA selections and contributed to a CCAA Tournament-qualifying squad. Prior to that, he played a key role in elevating San Francisco State’s program to the NCAA West Regional, overseeing recruiting and scouting efforts that contributed to postseason success.
At the Division I level, Webb spent three seasons with UC Davis women’s volleyball and also served as head coach of the Aggies’ men’s club team. Under his leadership, the men’s team achieved a third-place finish in the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League, defeated four nationally ranked opponents—including No. 1 Wisconsin-Milwaukee—and secured gold bracket appearances at all three national tournaments entered.
Webb’s experience extends beyond the court. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia, he worked as a business development specialist and has studied and lived abroad in Spain, Bolivia, and the Netherlands. He also played competitive volleyball overseas in both Bolivia and the Netherlands.
Originally from Guam, Webb played collegiate club volleyball at Northern Arizona University, where he earned dual degrees in Spanish and business marketing. As an outside hitter, he helped the Lumberjacks finish ninth nationally and captained a USVBA Men’s “A” state-champion team in Arizona. He also claimed an Arizona King of the Beach outdoor volleyball title.
Webb recently completed his master’s degree in Kinesiology, Coaching and Student-Athlete Development from Long Beach State.
