Pre-Chico Days
Spent three years as part of the Santa Rosa Junior College track & field program…Posted career-high 5,600 decathlon points February 27–28, 2020 at the Chico Multi Classic…A 2017 graduate of Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa…Helped the Pumas win the 2017 North Bay League and North Coast Section Redwood Empire titles…Competed in the 100m dash, 110m and 300m hurdles, shot put, and triple jump during his three varsity seasons…Also lettered in football, earning First Team All-NBL honors.

Born October 9, 1999, in Santa Rosa…Son of Keith Nelson and Alison Zander…Has four siblings: Audrey, Riley, Kayla, and Madelyn…Favorite course at Chico State is Introduction to Kinesiology, taught by Jolene Barry…Why he chose to attend Chico State: “The great all-around environment and amazing coaches”…His greatest sports moment is getting a personal record in almost all his events and getting a total score PR…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is kiteboard with Woody Harrelson…The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished is going to college…Has learned by competing in track & field that “the mind is very powerful if you have the drive to keep pushing”…Enjoys playing video games when he has some free time…Says his biggest talent outside of sports is snowboarding…Is related to U.S. President John Quincy Adams…At the top of his bucket list: “Travel”…Best advice ever received: “Keep your head up high when times get rough”…Majoring in kinesiology…Plans a career as a travel/track coach.
