Pre-Chico Days
Spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Moorpark College…Competed in the pole vault, javelin, discus, and 200m dash…Placed second in the state in the pole vault (personal record 4.75m) at the 2019 CCCAA Track & Field Championships…Earned CCCAA All-America honors…Named the Raiders’ 2019 Field Athlete of the Year…A 2017 graduate of Adolfo Camarillo High School in Camarillo…In four track & field seasons, competed in the pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, 400m dash, and 4x400m relay…Earned All-Coastal Valley League honors as a senior…Also lettered in football and rugby.

Born May 29, 1999, in Oxnard…Son of Victor Zuniga and Raquel Morales…Has one younger brother, Oscar…The person he most admires in the sports world is Tiger Woods (“for his tenacity and for being the GOAT”)…Why he chose to attend Chico State: “The setting, the family-feel, academics, and the winning culture within the track program”…His greatest sports moment is posting a personal best vault of 4.75m to secure second place at the California Community College Athletic Association state meet…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is nearly get stranded in Denver, Colorado on a recruiting trip…The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished is compete in a decathlon on just two days notice”…Has learned by competing in track & field that “no matter how high you go, there will always be another bar in waiting”…Enjoys skating, biking, hiking, and watching movies with family when he has some free time…Says his biggest non-sports talent is being able to make things with his hands (ceramics, woodworking, DIY projects)…Is ambidextrous…At the top of his bucket list: “Bungee jumping”…Best advice ever received came from his high school football coach: “Do sharks complain about Monday? No. They’re up early, biting stuff, chasing stuff, being scary— reminding everyone they’re a shark. Be like a shark”…Majoring in kinesiology…Plans to become a professor and coach track & field in the PAC-12.
