2019–20
Earned All-CCAA and All-West Region honors during the 2019 cross country season…Began the cross country campaign with a bang, winning the September 13, 2019 Stump Invitational with an 8k time of 24:58.9…Posted a 24:10 on the way to a third place showing September 28, 2019 at the Capital Cross Challenge…Ran a 31:40.1 10k to place second October 12, 2019 at the Western Washington Classic…Finished second (8k time of 24:50.3) October 26, 2019 at the CCAA Championships, leading the Wildcats to the program’s 18th straight conference crown…Posted a 10k PR time of 29:56.7 to place second November 9, 2019 at the NCAA West Regional…Concluded the season with a 46th place finish (10k time of 30:56.9) November 23, 2019 at the NCAA XC Championships in Sacramento…Did not compete in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 track & field season.
2018–19
Injuries sidelined Berti for much of the year…Competed in one cross country race, placing 29th overall at the Doc Adams Invitational…On the track, a PR time of 3:55 for the 1,500m at the Hornet Invitational…Posted a 14:40 PR 5k at the Fanelli Track Classic before his 2019 season was cut short.
2017–18
Redshirted both cross country and track as a true freshman…Opened the fall with a win at the Pacific Association’s Rebel Challenge, beating some post-collegians in the process…Placed 14th at the Capital Cross Challenge 8k, crossing the line in 24:46 and finishing ahead of the ’Cats No. 2 uniformed finisher on the day…Placed 15th overall in the Invite 8k at the Bronco Invitational, clocking a huge 24:06 PR.. Placed second in the team’s postseason 5k track time trial with a 14:37 PR…Closed out the cross country season with a win at UC Davis’ Doc Adams Invitational, defeating several Stanford redshirts while clocking a 24:04 PR for the 8k layout…On the oval, sickness limited the 2018 track season to a few 1500’s and a 3k…Recorded a 3:52 PR at the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Invitational…Posted a time of 8:25 for the 3k distance in a team time trial.
Pre-Chico Days
Developed into one of the top distance talents in the state running at Paso Robles High School…As a junior, raced to a 15th place finish at the California State Cross Country Championships, posting a 15:37 time over the 5k course...Posted PR’s of 4:17 and 9:31 for the 1,600 and 3,200-meter events to conclude his junior year on the track...His 2016–17 senior year brought huge breakthroughs in both sports...In the fall, placed fourth in the D-III Boys Sweepstakes race at the Mt SAC Invitational with a 15:04 PR...Notched a sub-15-minute 5k at the Stanford Invitational, winning his race by 30 seconds…Placed second at the Clovis Invitational with a 15:22 PR on the famed course...Concluded the season with a 14:42 CIF Finals run (third place) and a 13th place finish at state championships...On the track, ran a state-leading 4:10 for the full mile, while winning the Azusa Meet of Champions race...Despite being sick the week of the race, recorded a 9:10 3,200-meter PR at Arcadia...Finished the season with a seventh place finish at the California State Championships in the 1,600-meter event.
