Competed in three events at the March 6–7 Kim Duyst Invitational before the cancellation of the 2020 track & field season…Finished eighth in the javelin (46.54m) and placed 24th in the discus (36.59m)…Earned 2019–20 CCAA All-Academic honors.
Pre-Chico Days
A 2019 graduate of West Valley High School in Cottonwood…Competed in the discus and shot put…Helped lead Eagles to three straight Northern Athletic League championships…Earned 2019 All-NAL honors…As a senior, finished first in the discus at the 2019 NAL Championships, the Northern Section Division II Championships and the Northern Section Finals to advance to the CIF State Track & Field Championships…Received Spring Spirit of Sport and Northern Section CIF Scholar Athlete awards…Also lettered in swimming, earning All-NAL accolades.

Born April 19, 2001, in Cottonwood…Son of Scott and Patty…Has one older brother, Jake…The person he most admires in the sports world is his sister-in-law Ashley, a former thrower at UC Davis (“Her senior year she placed third at the NCAA Division I Championships in discus and qualified for the Olympic trials. She is the best discus thrower to compete for UC Davis”)…Favorite course at Chico State is Digital Photography, taught by Connor Zelinsky…Why he chose to attend Chico State: “I love the campus. Its always beautiful no matter what time of the year it is. I was extremely interested in pursuing video game development and Chico had a major for it. And to top it all off, Chico has some of the best coaches I have ever met”…His greatest sports moment is succeeding to beat his personal record by nearly 10 feet on his final javelin throw at the 2017 Junior Olympic National Championships, enabling him to advance…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is being selected as a finalist for the California State Board of Education student board member position…The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished is finishing fifth in both the discus and javelin at the 2015 Junior Olympic National Championships in Jacksonville, Florida …Has learned by competing in track & field: “While competing in track and field you are often doing so individually, but it is still a team sport. Teamwork is the main lesson I have learned from sports”…Enjoys making and playing video games, hiking, and taking photos when he has some free time…Was able to make it into the local newspaper when he was five years old at a track meet (“I was delivering water to the athletes competing against my brother”)…At the top of his bucket list: “Travel to other parts of the world. I have never left the United States”…Best advice ever received came from his parents, brother, and sister-in-law, all throwers: “Just throw farther”…Majoring in computer animation and game development…Plans a career as a video game developer focusing on education based games (“I believe that video games are a great medium for learning, and this could lead to more students finding school fun and enjoyable”).
