Biography

Pre-Chico Days
A 2020 graduate of South Hills High School in West Covina…Competed in the 110m and 300m hurdles, and the high jump, long jump, and triple jump…Posted the best high school mark among California high school athletes in the long jump, fourth-best in the state in the 300m hurdles, and eighth-best in the triple before the 2020 track & field season was cancelled…Took top honors in the 300m hurdles and the triple jump at the 2019 Hacienda League Finals…Also lettered in basketball.

Personal
Born November 13, 2002, in Los Angeles…Son of Linda Gottlieb…Has two older siblings, Izahia and Kayla…The person he most admires in the sports world is LeBron James (“Not only did he impact the NBA, but he impacts the world heavily and talks about the important things in this world rather than what he is doing on the court”)…Chose to attend Chico State “because of the background history the school has, which is winning multiple championships and competing with other great schools. That’s something that I wanted to be a part of”…His greatest sports moment is posting a long jump mark of 22-feet-8.5 at the 2020 Long Beach relays and a few days later being notified by athletic.net that he was No. 1 in California in the event…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is trying to pole vault for the first time (“What made it interesting was how hard it was to learn and the awkwardness when going up with the pole”)…Has learned by competing in track & field that “it is more of the way you think of things rather than what’s at hand. What that means is, your mindset is the majority of your performance anywhere you are in life”…Enjoys playing basketball with friends when he has some free time…At the top of his bucket list: “To play professionally, and the only way to accomplish that is if I put in the work”…Best advice ever received came from his brother: “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard”…Majoring in business marketing…Plans to compete professionally “and play the sport I love.”
