Competed in two events at the March 6–7 Kim Duyst Invitational prior to the cancellation of the 2020 track & field season…Combined with Colton Cummings, Calvin Igbanoi, and Kristofer Castillo to finish fifth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 42.84 seconds…Placed 28th in the 200m dash (23.67 seconds).
Pre-Chico Days
Spent three seasons as part of the Mt. San Antonio track & field program in Walnut…Competed in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash…A 2016 graduate of Esperanza High School in Anaheim…As a senior, finished first in both the 100m and 200m dash at the Crestview League Championships to help lead the Aztecs capture the league track & field title…Named 2018 team MVP…Also competed in baseball and wrestling.
Personal
Born September 22, 1998, in Yorba Linda…Son of David Du and Christine Dang…Has two younger siblings, Deven and Madison…His mom is his hero (“because even with adversity and changes she still manages to put me first”)…Favorite course at Chico State is Anatomy…Why he chose to attend Chico State: “The environment, and to adventure out more into California. Coach Oliver Hanf is very welcoming, and the Chico State track team had good records”…His greatest sports moment: “Going from a small high school, to a big junior college, and then finding a place like Chico State to finish a track career”…The most interesting thing he’s ever done is joining and starting his own business…The most impressive thing he’s ever accomplished: “Acquiring my AA degree and finding a four-year school to accept me”…Has learned by competing in track & field to “stay in your own lane and to never focus on outside forces that will put stress on you”…Enjoys watching movies, going to the beach, going out to eat, hiking, shopping, and spending time with friends…Invests in foreign currencies…At the top of his bucket list: “Travel”…Best advice ever received came from a friend: “Complain less, hustle more”…Majoring in kinesiology…Plans to get into occupational therapy, personal train other athletes and peoples, and continue with his business involving investing.
