Maddie Kalberer

Maddie Kalberer joined the Chico State track & field coaching staff in the fall of 2025 as an assistant sprints coach, working with the Wildcats’ sprint and relay groups.

As a member of the Chico State coaching staff, Kalberer focuses on sprint mechanics, speed development and relay exchange technique. Her background across multiple sprint events and the combined events gives her a broad technical foundation to draw from while working with the Wildcats’ sprinters and relay teams.

Kalberer joined a Chico State sprints group coming off a strong 2025 season and helped support its continued rise in 2026. On the men’s side, Brody Staley swept the CCAA titles in the 200 meters and 400 meters, set school records in both events, and became Chico State’s first All-American in the men’s 400 meters. The Wildcats’ 4x400-meter relay also qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships and earned Second Team All-America honors after moving to No. 3 in program history. On the women’s side, Teresa Vasconcellos, Emma Gaddy, Crystal Rosales and Savannah Sawyer all produced marks that ranked among Chico State’s all-time top 10 in sprint, hurdle or relay events during the 2026 season.

A Chico native, Kalberer graduated from Chico State with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. She began her collegiate career at Butte College before transferring to the University of Nevada, Reno, and later returned to Chico State to compete in her final season.

During her collegiate career, Kalberer competed in a variety of events, including the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. She also spent time competing in the heptathlon, gaining experience across multiple track & field disciplines.
