Patrick Barnum

  • Title
    Assistant Baseball Coach

Patrick Barnum completed his first season as an assistant coach with the Chico State baseball program in 2026 after wrapping up a two-year playing career with the Wildcats.

Barnum joined the coaching staff following his senior season at Chico State and assists the program in player development, practice preparation, and day-to-day operations. His background as a former Wildcat two-way player gives him experience working with both position players and pitchers.

As a senior in 2025, Barnum appeared in 11 games and made his lone start in the second game of a doubleheader against Northwest Nazarene on February 8. He went 3-for-13 at the plate and recorded a two-hit game in that start against the Nighthawks.

Barnum served as a two-way player for Chico State during the 2024 season. He appeared in 19 games, including nine starts as a position player, and also made six relief appearances on the mound. Playing primarily on the left side of the infield, Barnum hit .263 with three doubles, one triple, and eight RBIs. He drove in two runs in three different games. As a pitcher, he threw 5.2 innings, struck out four batters, and walked five.

Before transferring to Chico State, Barnum played two seasons at Holy Names University. He made 47 appearances for the Hawks before the university closed its athletics department at the end of the 2022-23 academic year.

Barnum brings recent playing experience and familiarity with the Chico State program into his role on the Wildcats’ coaching staff.
