Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor completed his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Chico State baseball program in 2026. A former Wildcat student-athlete, Taylor works primarily with Chico State’s hitters and outfielders while also contributing to scouting and recruiting efforts.

During Taylor’s four seasons on the coaching staff, Chico State has continued to develop productive offensive groups while competing in one of the strongest baseball regions in NCAA Division II. The 2026 Wildcats finished 26-24 overall and 15-17 in CCAA play, placing sixth in the conference. Chico State produced several postseason honorees, including All-CCAA selections Rocco Borrelli, Manny Lopez, Jakob Poole, and Jack Tews, with Lopez and Borrelli also earning All-West Region recognition.

The 2025 season saw Chico State navigate the toughest schedule in the West Region and finish 31-22 overall. The Wildcats scored 325 runs, ranking 11th in the West Region, while going 7-2 in non-conference play against a schedule that included the defending West Region champions and two conference champions.

Prior to joining Chico State’s coaching staff, Taylor served as an assistant coach at Butte College during the 2022 season. In that role, he worked closely with hitters and outfielders while assisting with recruiting, helping guide the Roadrunners following their 2021 Golden Valley Conference championship campaign.

Taylor has also been actively involved in summer baseball at the American Legion level. He served as head coach of the Chico Suns Baseball Club in 2024 and has spent multiple seasons as an assistant coach with the Chico Nuts Baseball Club, working with the program from 2018-23 and again in 2025.

As a player, Taylor competed at both Chico State and Butte College. He spent two seasons with the Wildcats from 2018-19 and appeared in games during the 2019 campaign before continuing his playing career at Butte College. As a first baseman for the Roadrunners in 2020 and 2021, Taylor earned Second Team All-Golden Valley Conference honors in 2021, led Butte in RBIs during the 2020 season, and helped the program capture the 2021 Golden Valley Conference championship.

Taylor is a 2017 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School, where he played varsity baseball. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Chico State in 2022 and his Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2024.
