OROVILLE, Calif. – As the season begins to ramp up, a group of Chico State women's track & field athletes traveled to Butte College for their first competition of the spring at the Butte Invitational. With several new faces competing in a Wildcats uniform for the first time, Chico State showcased depth and promise across multiple events.
Saryah Harris-Davis impressed in her first trio of events for the 'Cats, capturing first place in both the shot put (11.67m) and discus (38.90m).
Tianna Thompson opened her senior season with a victory in the 100 meters, clocking a 12.43. Teammates Breah Bell (12.89) and Morgan Greene (12.98) followed closely behind, finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Crystal Rosales placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.75, while Teresa Vasconcellos finished just behind her in third at 24.98.
In her Chico State debut, Emma Gaddy claimed first place in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 56.76.
Freshman Jordin McDowell turned in a strong showing in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 14.72. Yanise Harris followed in third and recorded a personal-best 14.77.
Janey Rubio picked up right where she left off in 2025, clearing 3.66 meters to take first in the pole vault. Charlie Ham finished second with a mark of 3.50 meters in the season opener.
Newcomer Kylie Davis had an outstanding day in Oroville, winning both the long jump (5.54m) and triple jump (11.07m).
Chico State will be on the road next Saturday, March 7th, traveling north to Shasta College for the Shasta Invitational in preparation for the Wildcat Invitational on March 13th and 14th.
